Hey, you, long time no see! While it may seem as though I’ve completely abandoned this page in the last few years, you’ll be pleased to know that I’ve just been writing elsewhere.
In January 2021, I became secretary of the High School for the Performing & Visual Arts (HSPVA) Black Alumni Network (BAN). HSPVA BAN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has presented me with a unique opportunity to do challenging and fulfilling work that allows me exercise my creative muscles in nonmusical ways and connect with some of the most talented and innovative individuals I’ve ever known. When I accepted this position, I automatically acquired the role of editing and distributing the network’s bi-monthly newsletter entitled, The Check-In, but since last August, I’ve had the added pleasure of interviewing and writing about alumni as well.
